As Managing Director and founding member of Saacosh, Francois is passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives. He channels this passion into building a culture of care and integrity for his own team members and to help his clients discover new approaches to create safe and thriving working environments.
Francois has more than 35 years of experience in the safety industry and holds a MSc Degree in Industrial Safety from the Central Missouri State University (USA), a B-Admin degree from the University of South Africa and a Diploma in Risk Management from the Chamber of Mines of in South Africa.

Frans is the Safety, Health, Quality and Environmental (SHEQ) Specialist at SAACOSH. Nine years of extensive experience and exposure in the field of occupational health and safety in various well-known industries enables him to share his knowledge on a professional and efficient manner. He is a very knowledgeable facilitator, auditor and advisor in the field of conventional health and safety, human behaviour and process and system safety. He is also experienced in advising leaders and managers on ways to take their safety initiatives to the 'next level' in a sustinable manner.
Frans holds a B.Mil Human Sciences with Industrial Psychology degree from the University of Stellenbosch, COMSOC, a Nebosh Certificate and has completed numerous Health and Safety courses that equips him to be a specialist in the field of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality.
Lemon has more than 20 years experience in the health and safety industry and is an expert facilitator with an in-depth knowledge of what it takes to create safety cultures in dangerous working environments. He often uses his personal experience as a former miner to help trainees understand the practical applications of health and safety theory. Apart from facilitating some of Saacosh's cutting-edge programs such as the Meerkat Process, Lemon is also responsible for managing the facilitation team and making sure that the highest standards are maintained with each course or workshop.
Bessie du Preez
Branch Manager: Northern Cape
Bessie joined Saacosh as Branch/Sales Manager in Kathu (Northern Cape Region) in May 2015. Her passion in life is to reach out to her fellow man, in terms of education, living standards and social welfare. This aligns with her being responsible for the recruitment and scheduling of training for clients.
Bessie’s 19 years of experience in bookkeeping, management, marketing and safety management with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Lafarge and Record Engineering Sales provided her with valuable experience and skills for her current role at Saacosh. During her working career she obtained a National Diploma in Bookkeeping from UNISA and in the field of Occupational Health and Safety, she obtained SAMTRAC for Mining.
Johan is very knowledgeable health and safety professional with more than 32 years of in-depth safety and health experience. He is currently leading a number of safety improvement projects for some of our global clients. Johan has built an impressive reputation as someone that adds value and facilitates positive improvement in safety performance in a rapid and sustainable manner.
Johan completed his National Diploma in Safety Management and also has safety and legal liability qualifications from reputable institutions such as the Chamber of Mines; Saacosh and NOSA. He has participated in numerous projects and safety strategy developments for ArcelorMittal (Iscor), Kumba Resources and Anglo America. He is currently involved in the development and implementation of the Meerkat Process at Sishen Mine in the Northern Cape and facilitates training in Legal Liability.

Richard has more than 18 years of experience in the safety industry. As a specialist consultant at Saacosh, he is dedicated to making a positive influence in client’s businesses. His passion is to create high performance safety cultures in teams and organizations, by equipping organizations to be resilient and successful in environments where constant change and danger is a given.
He has a Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency issued by the DMR and a Diploma in Loss Control Management from the Chamber of Mines in South Africa.

Israel is very knowledgeable health and safety Facilitator with more than 20 years of health and safety experience. He has been with Saacosh since 2010 as a training facilitator and has facilitated programs for companies such as Phokathaba Mining, Kumba, Kumani, Kolomela, Jwaneng, South Deep Mining, Target Mining and others.
Prior to that he worked as a trainer for SafeMap Africa and as a miner at Vaal Reef Mining. Israel believes it is his calling to help companies approach health and safety with positive attitudes.
Regional Manager: Botswana
As the Regional Manager Saacosh Botswana, Gilbert is passionate about caring for people who are exposed to constant danger in their work. He enjoys his current role where he has the opportunity to make meaningful contributions towards creating safer workplaces and ultimately saving lives in client companies.
Gilbert has 28 years of experience in the safety industry and previously worked for companies such as Gold Fields South Africa, BCL Mine Botswana and PPC Aggregates Botswana. He has a Safety Officers’ Diploma from the South African Chamber of Mines, Risk Management Qualifications (levels 1 & 2) from IRCA, a SAMTRAC certificate from NOSA, a STRATA Control certificate from Traisc Consultants, a Blasting Licence form the Department of Minerals and Energy Affairs RSA and an Underground Blasting Licence from the Department of MEWR in Botswana.

Fanie is the underground safety manager on the Black Rock Project in the Northern Cape. As such he oversees EPCM Worley Parsons, which manages all the contractors on this project. His main functions are to manage project governance and to ensure that the on-boarding process is followed when allowing contractors on the premises. This includes managing safety, quality and environmental procedures and policies.
Fanie is also responsible for building relationships and trust with the client and to consult the client and EPCM in the best practice way of handling situations.
Marina is responsible for all operational requirements (financial, logistics, resource, marketing, sales, TrainingHR) in order to make sure that the Saacosh team achieves their business objectives. She also manages the various operational processes that contribute to the successful delivery of our services in terms of longterm client contracts, training services and special projects.

Maretha studied and completed her BSc: IT degree at the University of Pretoria in 2002. She then decided to qualify herself as a Professional Accountant at the South African institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA). She has been a full member of SAIPA since 2015 and is also a registered Tax Practitioner at SARS.
Maretha joined SAACOSH in July 2013 on a contractual basis to assist with all accounting functions as well as Corporate Governance compliance. She is responsible for the monthly management of accounts, all SARS submissions, BBBEE compliance, etc.
